🎻 On Sunday evening 22 December I performed the live violin program during the annual Christmas dinner at the Collse Hoeve in Nuenen. In the beautifully decorated hall, with elegantly set tables and subtle Christmas lighting, the guests enjoyed an evening that was entirely focused on atmosphere, culinary delight and music.
Atmospheric venue
The Collse Hoeve, located on the edge of Nuenen, is known as a characterful venue for dinners and parties. The warm, countryside décor and the welcoming service make it a beloved spot for special occasions. During the Christmas dinner this atmosphere was further enhanced by the live music and festive decorations.
The concert
My contribution consisted of a varied program of classical pieces, light music and well‑known Christmas melodies. Think of works by Strauss, Vivaldi, Saint‑Saëns and Piazzolla, interspersed with familiar Christmas classics such as Silent Night, White Christmas and The Yuletide Tune.
The music was tailored to the dinner: subdued during the starter and main course, more pronounced towards the dessert and the finale. This created a pleasant balance between background music and small musical moments during which guests also liked to dance.
Guest comments
The combination of live violin music and the Christmas dinner was highly appreciated. Several guests indicated that the music gave the dinner an extra dimension and created a special Christmas atmosphere. There was a lot of interaction; after the event spontaneous conversations about the music arose, as well as natural interest in the beautiful instrument, the violin.
Why live music works during a dinner
- Enhances the atmosphere: Live music adds a personal, warm touch that cannot be compared to background music from speakers.
- Flexibility: As a musician I tailor the program and volume to the atmosphere in the hall.
- Memory: Music ensures that guests remember the Christmas dinner as special.
